Yes, it's time to let it go.........
For years this doubt has been nagging me on when it's going to happen again and after all these years, my fears came true. I have prayed that this moment will not happen but it has and I have finally realised that no matter how I have tried to understand my friendship with my dear friend, it has come to a time when I have to let go in order to protect myself from further hurt. I wasn't expecting anything, all I needed was a simple answer and I didn't get any. Now, I don't need the answer as God has given it to me. When I was blinded, he opened my eyes... thank you Lord.

Mentos Muffins, Anyone?
"So what shall we have for our snack today?" I asked K, my son who was wandering in and out of the kitchen looking for something to keep his little mouth busy. "Hmmmm, cupcakes? chocolate cake? " I suggested. "How about some cupcakes without those sour berries ? Maybe just plain cupcakes ?" he replied.
"Well son, you can have anything you want in a cupcake..you know?" I said. The next thing I knew, K opened the fridge door and began searching. With just an hour and half to spare, I had to quickly churn out the mixture and finish baking the cupcakes. So I roped in his godsister, A, who was spending the day with us. Both of them were running around getting the ingredients I needed and reading the measurements on the weighing scale. Soon, the batter was ready. Now it's time to add the extra fillings. I had chocolate buttons which K requested and what N, my gal would like. I filled up a spoonful of batter into the mini cups and they added the choc buttons. Before we knew it, K dropped in a mentos into one of the cups ! "Eeeeewwww !" commented A.
Anyway, I did tell him he could have anything he wished in a cupcake. So we put some markings on "K's" mentos cupcake.
After the cupcakes were baked and I did some frosting with some leftover whipped cream, they were extremely excited to taste it. "Yeah! Green, my favourite colour !" went K. He licked up the whipped cream and bit into his cupcake. We were watching his reaction on how it would be with the mentos. "I can't find it," he said. I was sure he had put it in there as I double checked it before topping the cup with another scoop of batter. Strange ! Well, after a few minutes, he said "There it is ! Right at the bottom of the cupcake.....but its all wet." Then, I realised that the mentos had actually melted. The feedback he gave was he could still taste the sweet. Nothing fantastic afterall. Trust my dear son with his funny ideas.

Exams Blues
Never have I every thought that I would be taking my PSLE all over again. It's that time of the year where parents of P6 kids are getting all hyped up and telling their kids to study..study..study...Well, what else is new ? The answer my precious N will give is "I did !!"
Whenever I nag, yes..I really nag....that would be the reply I get from her. She'll rebutt, "Hey, I just did two hours of Science/Maths!!!" But the ever so anxious mum (me) cannot accept her sitting on the sofa watching TV. Sigh...it's ever so hard to strike a balance.
Precious N told me once that if there ever was a nag queen competition, I'd definitely come in first. That was after her classmate called me to 'complain' about what N did. It's that age where everything seems like the end of the world to them and the slightest thing can trigger lots of emotional outbursts that one could never imagine. So after speaking to her girlfriend and counselling her on what is a rumour and a question, I reigned as a 'nag queen'. Yeah....look on the bright side...I will not receive such calls again. Kids...even the form teacher was surprised that girl was so gutsy as to pick up the phone and speak to me. To set the records straight, she had to intervene and correct her disrespectful behaviour.
Anyway, N will not know of the sleepless nights I had spent worrying about how she is coping with the pressure and stress of the upcoming exams. I pray hard that she is blessed with the wisdom while sitting through the papers. All I can do is to support, encourage and accept that she has done her best. Hopefully she will do well and get into a good secondary school.

Ouch!! It hurts....
It has never occurred to me that I would have to go through this but I did. It began with me thinking I was having this heat in me that would never go away which was causing my gums to feel sore all the time. Finally I picked up the phone and got myself a dental appointment at the first slot I could get. "Wow! How lucky," I thought to myself. An appointment the very next day.....
After dropping K at mum's, hubby and I went for our breakfast date. We arrived at the dental place pretty early and I still brought along my favourite kopi-o, sipping happily as I await my turn. Ok, I felt nervous...never liked someone prying into my mouth with some metal instruments which definitely hurt in some way or another. I told myself that I needed the check to assure me everything was ok in there.
Nervous...nervous....I walked into that fateful room with a look that said "Hey, I'm cool!". Hey! I was greeted by a very friendly dentist..Phew, at least that made me feel young and alive. Well, he said..you have some swollen gums in there....but you must have a strong pain threshold bearing with all that pain..best thing is to get rid of it. Hmmmm..totally agree! But that would mean "SURGERY!" Yucks, who likes that??? First of all, they had to get the skeleton profile of my mouth and I was made to wear this heavy apron and stand with my chin rested on a stand, bit a slanted stick while the hi-tech machine moved around my head...feels like being in some outer space capsule. When that was done, we had some discussions about what's gonna be done.
Ok, when? I asked. He told me to get it done next door if they had a slot for me. Too soon....not mentally prepared and with all the hectic schedule I have to make fast arrangements. He told me 5 days MC. Oh dear, who's going to cover me? I made a few fast calls while he was writing me a ref letter.
I walked next door to get the appt...10am next morning. Sounds like some doomsday for me. The counter staff told me to confirm it before she blocked the appointment. She could sense that I might get cold feet. "Fine!" I said and shot a look at my hubby.
Next morning, I had to drop K off at mum's again but last minute he had to follow her to send my precious nephew to his 'glam' playschool after she was mobilised with one day's notice. So much so for pre-arranging everything the night before.
Initially I thought it would be good to go for the surgery on my own and have mum pick me up after that but thought against it since hubby managed to get half day off to accompany me. Thank goodness he sensed my apprehension. I was feeling pretty depressed when I heard that he had a VIP in town that day. Mum suggested I called my good friend J but she was nursing a bad throat and I had rejected her offer when she texted me to ask if I needed her (guess that she too, knew how I felt).
By 10am, I was at the clinic getting into the dental chair which I had to stay put for the next 90 mins. After some discussion with the D-in charge, I settled down for them to begin. They put a bib around my neck and covered my eyes ..Hey! I was like going for a spa treatment. The dentist actually laughed at that comment. Anyway, the horror began when he injected 3 pricks into the wall for the mouth..slowly I was engulfed by the feeling of numbness. He pressed around the area to make sure I had lost total control of it and had to do one more jab. Ok...the more the merrier....as long as I didn't feel anything through the process. How wrong I was.....
I squirmed when I heard all the sounds of drilling and sawing...I had my nails pressed so tightly against my flesh and maybe the LA worked so well that I didn't feel any pain on my hands at all. Towards the end, I was actually yelling out as they pressed so hard against my jaw that I thought I had to walk out of there with a broken one. Why did I get myself into this??? I almost threw in the towel when he finally said..your tooth's out! That didn't bring tears of joy but more like I survived the ordeal.
I got some painkillers swallowed immediately knowing that the pain would be unbearable after what I had been through. Hubby drove me to mum's before heading back to attend to his VIP. After two hours of napping, I felt this tremendous throbbing. I knew I needed something to ease the pain but I had already taken one dose of the painkillers so I picked up the phone and called the clinic again. Due to my allergy, he could only prescribe a certain range of drug so I had to rely on P again. Took two before mum drove me to school to pick N up and head home. However it took some time for the medicine to work. I couldn't bear the pain and snapped at mum when she told me to cook porridge for dinner. Food was the last thing on my mind then !! (My apologies for that..but she'll understand).
Somehow, despite hubby returning home late and having to see to the kids dinner...I survived ! The experience left me to appreciate having a daughter who is capable of picking her bro up from the school bus and getting dinner for themselves. Thank god for her......and M fastfood and a son whose first words the minute he got home were...."Your cheek look swollen." But, I knew what he meant......

PTWM-How it all began......
I have read the many blogs by FTWM and it inspires me to add my two sense worth being a PTWM (Part-Time working mum). With all the mad rush everyday trying to rush the kids to school, cooking meals, rushing to work, back home to see to the kids homework, reminding them its bedtime and finally some quiet moments for myself....the madness happens everyday..it's a ritual.
Why honeybear? Well, on top of giving myself the name of Superbmum, honeybear originates from my hubby to my precious daughter one day when he sent her a sms asking her how did her exam go and he texted her "How's your exam, honeybear?" Well, she came home and showed me the sms. I commented that he has never called me that before and she is indeed lucky as he is hardly one to use such endearing terms. To remember such sweet moments between father and daughter I decided to name it "smhoneybear".
Why BakeInspire? I have all the mums and their baking blogs to thank. Before I accepted the role of PTWM, I needed something to keep me sane and not succumb to the pressures of not having a FT job so I picked up baking. It was truly therapeutic and works well for me. After trying my friend Marg's choc mousse one day when she came to visit me at my new place, I was reunited with baking again...inspired by her delicious choc mousse. I started visiting blogs and when I saw the beautiful cakes that were posted and mums' showcasing their bakes, it was truly inspirational ! Thus the name...BAKEINSPIRE.......
By chance I was chatting with my good friend and we decided to work together on this blog. Cheers Marg!! With God's grace, he has brought us together for our very first project. May there be many more to come.
